MCC Kids College For Middle School
Kids College are 1 to 2-week-long exposure courses designed to give students an opportunity to get connected with Triple Win through hands-on career exploration, learning new tools, and building confidence in STEM subjects. Rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders.
Out Of School time (OST) Courses
OST courses happen on Monday and Tuesdays between 4 pm and 9 pm, dinner included. These courses are hands-on and focus on helping students earn an industry-based certificate in a field of their choosing. Courses are divided between Professional Development (PD) which focuses on curriculum and instruction and Work-Based Learning, where students operate within the earn and learn model. Competitive STEM teams like Esports and Racing Team also meet during OST.
Paid Internships / Externships
Internships with Triple Win are available to students who complete prerequisite PD and WBL courses, internship time will take place on the Webster campus. Externships take place off-campus and partner businesses will employ the student directly. Internships and Externships offer 10-20 hours a week and are paid by stipend by Triple Win or the partner business on Payday. We also champion student start-up businesses through Externships. These internships include the Mechatronics Program with Prosper Waco and Creative Waco's Artprenticehsip.
Seed Money for Student Businesses
Up to 6 students will engage in an accelerator program for Entrepreneurship through a partnership with Rogue Capital Investment while earning class credit for Entrepreneurship I (Service ID 13034400) in the Business, Marketing, and Finance career cluster. Students will also work to pass the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification (ESB) from the Industry Based Certification list. Executive Function development in young learners through Entrepreneurial experiences are proven indicators of successful workforce development while promoting confident-problem solving and emotion intelligence. Students in the Entrepreneurial Accelerator program will spend the first part of the summer developing a business plan, legal formation, seeking capital followed by operating the business for real profits while continually iterating best practices for their business. A program goal of the OST time accelerator is to propel student businesses to continue operations through the 2022-2023 school year as a practicum course.
